Selena Gomez Talks About Being Mexican

Selene Gomez told Twist magazine:
"I wanted to be like my friends. I hung out with girls who had blue eyes and blond hair and I thought, 'I want to look like them! When I went to auditions, I'd be in a room with a lot of blond girls, and I always stood out. It actually helped that I looked different. It got me where I am today! I don't know if I would've had the opportunity to be on Wizards of Waverly Place if it weren't for my heritage. I realize everybody wants what they don't have. But at the end of the day, what you have inside is much more beautiful than what's on the outside!"

I can honestly say I love this girl. I see a very unique person in this girl. Out of all the Disney girls she’s the one that appeals to me the most. She looks like a very nice person and I love that she speaks her mind. One question though. Does she speak Spanish cause seems to be happy about her heritage but I never heard her speak Spanish. i can truely say i’ve been there selena. i am mexican, and when im around people who are diffrent from me i say i want to be like them, but at the end of the day im really proud of my heritage and another thing is just be proud with who you are, don’t want to be someone your not. you look great being mexican and who you are, and i alos love seeing a mexican preform on disney, i think you the first one.lol do you speak spanish though? we need to hear you!!! lol keep up the good work and never give up!! love you always, tanya!!

Same here all my friends have blond hair and i have dark brown. i am never embarrassed of being Mexican and i was actually proud of it. After a while i felt kinda awkward standing out but i love Selena cuz she has taught me too keep believing and be proud of who i am.
Although i love the U.S.A I always wear Mexican soccer jerseys and i will always be proud to be Mexican no matter what people say. I have lots of love for the beautiful motherland and its people. I applaud Selena for not becoming to Americanized like some other Mexican girls who are stupid and buckle with the pressure and are ashamed. Thats one of the reasons I love Selena Gomez.
